As much as we love sharing our cleaning tips and hacks, we wanted to try something different. We want to connect with you guys- so we’re passing the mic over to you!
We want to use our website as a platform where people all around Australia can come together to tell their stories and share what cleaning means to them.
Our first cleaning story starts off on a light-hearted note: disaster strikes. We’re sure most of you have a story like this to tell:
“ Imagine this. You have rented your two bedroom apartment to two lovely girls who look clean, respectful and polished. It’s two days after the girls should have cleaned up the place and left after three months of staying. It also happens to be the agency’s inspection day. At 8:30 am, you let yourself in. There’s a hundred pairs of socks, cushions and dirty cutlery scattered across the living room floor, mould growing on the bathroom walls and more food clogging up the kitchen sink than there is in the cupboards. The window sill is lined with the corpses of dead flies, your favourite coffee mug is being used as a mouldy toothbrush holder, and the bathroom bin is overflowing. The worst part is: it doesn’t have a bin liner in it.
Single handedly, I attempt to vacuum and mop the kitchen, bathroom and living room, discovering along the way that the girls had barely left a drop of cleaning solution or hand soap in the house. That day has honestly made a huge impact on my life. I find myself cleaning up after myself more, and have discovered that I actually enjoy cleaning. It makes me feel content and happy knowing that the environment I wake up to and am surrounded with everyday is clean.
Part of the reason as to why I am now a cleaner person is because of that experience. I vowed that I would never let myself go like they did.”
A disastrous cleaning story doesn’t have to be all bad. Oftentimes it provides a learning experience and an opportunity for growth. Have you had an appalling experience with cleaning- or an inspiring one? We want to hear them all. Leave us a comment!
